Jakarta, 26 July 2026 – TWA Angke Kapuk (Jakarta Mangrove), managed by PT Murindra Karyalestari with BKSDA Jakarta, held Festival Sahabat Mangrove 2026 on Sunday, 26 July, from 08:00–18:00 WIB at Pantai Indah Kapuk, North Jakarta. Organized with Jiva Catalyst Foundation and supported by Trash Ranger Indonesia, the event drew over 2,000 visitors.

The festival marked 29 years of mangrove rehabilitation at the site from roughly 9 hectares to about 65 hectares of healthy forest across a 99.82-hectare area once used as illegal fish ponds, now home to wildlife including sea eagles. The event opened with remarks from Ir. Ken Savitri Ambarsari, MBA, President Director of TWA Angke Kapuk, followed by a wildlife photography exhibition by Ezron Tarigan and hands-on workshops (Eco Print, Pottery, Rattan Weaving) attended by 100+ participants, plus 500+ volunteers mobilized by Jiva Catalyst.
A talk show titled “Roots of Change: The Role of Communities in Protecting Mangroves for a Better Climate Future” featured Maya Lynn BC (Jiva Catalyst founder), Putri Melta Sari (Trash Ranger Indonesia co-founder), and Fitra Gautama (TWA Angke Kapuk management), who spoke on mangroves’ role in preventing abrasion and filtering marine waste, and the need for stronger community involvement. This was followed by a clean-up, mangrove tour, and a performance by Lahila Band.

The seminar “Jaga Mangrove, Kelola Sampah” featured content creator Jerhemy Owen alongside Yulinar Fitriani, Ken Savitri Ambarsari, Happy Putro Wibowo, and Prof. Dr. Dewi Elfidasari (Universitas Al Azhar Indonesia), with Owen urging youth to normalize eco-friendly habits. The day’s highlight was a mangrove planting session totaling 443 seedlings (300 from BNI Life, 143 from Jiva participants), followed by closing performances by Kaka Slank and 57Kustik. Other activities included a Seedling Donation Hangtag Campaign, sustainability booths, a UMKM bazaar, a Mangrove BioBlitz, and capybara feeding with CAPYCA. Organizers expressed hope the collaboration will continue to strengthen mangrove conservation in Jakarta.
