LSPR Supports Staff Mental Health through Its Employee Assistance Programme
LSPR Institute of Communication and Business, through its Human Resources Department (HRD), has provided an Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) since September 2025 to support employee mental health and well-being. Open to all employees, the programme offers professional assistance with personal, emotional, family and work-related challenges. Consultations are provided free of charge to employees, making professional support available without an additional financial burden.
The EAP reflects LSPR’s recognition that employee welfare includes access to support for psychological and emotional concerns. Staff may encounter difficulties that involve both their personal lives and their responsibilities at work. By providing a service that addresses these interconnected needs, LSPR places mental health support within its approach to caring for the people who contribute to the institution’s activities.
Professional counselling is provided by Afdaliza, M.Psi., Psikolog., M.I.Kom., a licensed psychologist. Sessions are available both in person and online, giving employees a choice of consultation formats. This arrangement is intended to make professional assistance easier to access while accommodating different circumstances and preferences. Employees can use the service to discuss their concerns with a qualified practitioner.
The programme’s counselling services cover personal, emotional and family matters, alongside support for managing stress, anxiety and other mental health concerns. Its provision for employees and their families recognises the connection between personal circumstances and well-being at work. The scope of support allows employees to seek assistance for concerns that extend beyond their immediate workplace responsibilities.
Work-related assistance is another component of the programme. Employees can seek support when dealing with difficulties such as conflicts with colleagues or managers. Alongside counselling, the EAP includes wellness programmes intended to support a healthy lifestyle. Together, these services bring individual assistance and the promotion of well-being into a single employee support programme.
Confidentiality is a central feature of the EAP. All consultations are confidential, and participation does not affect an employee’s performance appraisal. These provisions are intended to help employees feel comfortable seeking assistance and discussing sensitive matters. Providing consultations at no cost to employees also addresses the financial barrier that could otherwise discourage access to professional support.
Employees can arrange a counselling session by contacting HRD at [email protected] or through the department’s WhatsApp channel. HRD serves as the point of contact for accessing the programme. A defined booking route, combined with the availability of in-person and online consultations, provides employees with a practical way to seek assistance when they need it.
The programme supports Sustainable Development Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being, particularly the mental health and well-being component of Target 3.4. LSPR’s contribution takes the form of an accessible institutional service: professional counselling, confidential consultations, free access for employees and support for personal and workplace concerns. This connects the SDG’s objectives with a concrete provision for the institution’s own workforce.
The EAP also illustrates the role of human resources in university sustainability practice. Supporting the people who deliver an institution’s educational and operational activities is part of responsible institutional stewardship. By incorporating mental health assistance into employee welfare, LSPR gives practical expression to its commitment to staff well-being and a supportive working environment.
