“The current situation in The Netherlands and their University activities during the pandemic”

 

LSPR International Relations and Partnerships Office held its very first Webinar Series with International University Partners with The Hague University of Applied Sciences on 30 April 2020. This first webinar featured Drs. Barry Verbeek, a senior lecturer at the School of International Communications Management – The Hague University of Applied Sciences and Consultant at TheRockGroup who shared his expertise on “The Current Situation in The Netherlands and University Activities During the Pandemic”. The session was moderated by Mr. Alppy Valdez, Dean of Faculty of Business of LSPR. The LSPR Webinar Series with International University Partners aims to provide a range of high quality topics from experienced communication professionals during the COVID-19 Pandemic to allow for international learning during the “Stay at Home” period.

 

Drs. Barry Verbeek started the sharing session by elaborating on the current COVID-19 situation in the Netherlands to offer insights as to how the Netherlands is handling the pandemic. The sharing session continued to discuss the importance of effective communication during such a pandemic including examples of the Netherland’s attempt to use communication to lower the Corona Virus spread. Drs. Barry elaborated on the effects of the Corona Virus for inbound and outbound students and how the University handled certain issues related to them including the tools used to provide clear and effective communication and their emergency plan of action.

The sharing session then came to an end discussing the last two topics which related to international actions during a crisis and how it can be handled including issues that can arise, and effects of the COVID-19 Pandemic on students currently taking their Thesis. After the presentation, participants were offered the chance to ask questions relevant to the topics discussed. A total of 145 participants joined the webinar.
